Columbia Records and relentlessGENERATOR have joined forces to develop the new Bob Dylan Bootleg Series mobile application, bringing to life the music of Bob Dylan through dynamic features and immersive experiences

New Album App Enhances Fan Experience, Enables Immersive Content Delivery

NEW YORK, Oct. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ – Columbia Records and relentlessGENERATOR have joined forces to develop the new Bob Dylan Bootleg Series mobile application, bringing to life the music of Bob Dylan through dynamic features and immersive experiences.  The app is a companion to Dylan’s The Bootleg Series, Vol. 10 – Another Self Portrait (1969-1971), which is available now.

With over 500 pieces of content, including histories, videos, and photo galleries to accompany 36 rare tracks from Vol. 10 of Dylan’s Bootleg series, the app provides unique insight into the artist and his recording experience. Major features of the app include:

  • Visual timelines by track
  • In-depth biographies
  • Events that impacted Dylan’s music
  • Galleries of rare, unreleased and behind-the-scenes photos
  • Exclusive video interviews
  • Dylan’s musical influences
  • Interactive lyrics and track details

Built using a new album app format, which brings together rich and engaging multimedia content on iOS devices, the app transforms Dylan’s songs into a must-have digital music companion for new and old fans alike.

The Bob Dylan Bootleg app comes with one pre-loaded song and is available for free download in the Apple App Store.  Users can unlock all 36 tracks plus the live Isle of Wight performance inside the app by adding their copy of Another Self Portrait to their iTunes library.  For more information, and to download, visit http://smarturl.it/bdb_app.

The Bootleg Series, Vol. 10 – Another Self Portrait (1969-1971) is the latest installment of Dylan’s acclaimed Bootleg Series, augmenting the original session masters of Self Portrait with rarities and unreleased recordings to bring fresh perspective to one of Dylan’s most controversial periods.  While the original Self Portrait was a deliberate act of iconoclasm that shattered Dylan’s image as “generational spokesperson” while stretching the boundaries of pop music and his own, the album’s successor, New Morning, marked Dylan’s return to songwriting.  Another Self Portrait gives fans a chance to reappraise the pivotal recordings that marked Dylan’s artistic transformation as the 1960s ended and the 1970s began.  The set is available in a standard two-disc set and in a four-disc deluxe box set, as well as digitally: http://smarturl.it/BDX_iTunes.

Another Self Portrait is one of the most important, coherent and fulfilling Bob Dylan albums ever released.” – David Fricke, Rolling Stone

Another Self Portrait is an illustration of Dylan’s vast command of the folk song, a laboratory for transforming some of his most familiar hits, and a testament to his powers as an interpretive singer.” – Ben Greenman, The New Yorker

Newly released app shares never before seen notes, memorabilia and reflections by Elvis, combined with original artwork and short stories from acclaimed graphic novel writers and authors!

Memphis, TN (PRWEB) August 16, 2012

“Graphic Elvis: The Interactive Experience,” is a new interactive digital book app from Liquid Comics, created under license from Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc.

With a release date timed to celebrate the life and legacy of Elvis Presley on the 35th anniversary of his passing on August 16, 2012, the digital book app features for the first time, a number of Elvis’ handwritten personal notes and reflections written in the margins of his personal book collection at Graceland.

The notes reveal rare insights into the inner workings of the legendary music icon, showing his deep spiritual quest and exploration of the mystical. Elvis shared his passion to seek out the deeper mysteries of life commenting, “All I want to know is the truth, to know and experience God. I’m a searcher, that’s what I’m all about…”

In a section of the interactive app called “The Searcher,” readers can zoom in and explore selected pages from Elvis’s books with doodles, words, numerological notes and handwritten phrases with sayings such as:

“God loves you, but he loves you best when you sing”

“O Lord thy sky is so great and my plane is so small”

“If one can’t give what they have and share then they will always be empty”

In another section of the app called “The Legend,” rare photos and memorabilia from the archives at Graceland in Memphis are showcased, including Elvis’ signed boxing gloves from Muhammad Ali; a letter from Douglas Fairbanks inviting Elvis to London to perform for the royalty of England; and sketches of Elvis’ wardrobes by his longtime designer Bill Belew.

Elvis shared the impact of comic books on his life in his famous acceptance speech for the 1971 Top Ten Outstanding Men of America award. “When I was a child ladies and gentlemen, I was a dreamer. I read comic books and I was the hero of the comic book…so every dream that I’ve dreamed has come true a hundred times.”

Honoring Presley’s love of comic books, each section of the app is interweaved with original artists renditions of Elvis in imagined scenarios as well as short stories and animations by acclaimed graphic novel creators, including Stan Lee (co-creator of the Avengers, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four and Spider-Man).

Stan Lee commented on his participation of the book by saying, “What a thrill it is for me to be included in a book celebrating the life of Elvis Presley. I remember the time I first saw him on TV, when he burst upon the music scene like a blazing comet. I remember his indescribably rich voice, his incredible sense of rhythm, his magnificent range– from rock, to pop, to ballads and hymns. I remember the indescribably powerful impact he had on the youth of the nation– and the world. How lucky we were to have seen and heard him, because there was only one Elvis Presley, whose songs and whose memory will live forever.”

Stan Lee was joined by some of the most acclaimed graphic novel creators in the industry to portray the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll in unprecedented visual styles. Graphic Elvis creators included, Paul Pope, Jimmy Palmiotti, John Cassaday, Paul Gulacy, Ryan Kelly, Greg Horn, Jeevan J. Kang, Jeff Spokes, John Higgins, Mukesh Singh, Steve Rude, Celia Calle, Dean Hyrapiet, Joe Petruccio, Joshua Dysart, Stan Goldberg, Saumin Patel, Tony Millionaire, Samit Basu, Chris Eliopoulos, Peter Bagge, Michael Avon Oeming, Keron Grant, Gilbert Hernandez and many more.
