SANTA MONICA, Calif., July 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, longtime purveyors, custodians and distillers of a modern big band swing sound are back and newly signed with Savoy Jazz.  In celebration of twenty years bringing an irrepressible groove to the adoring masses, the band has recorded “RATTLE THEM BONES”—their eighth studio album.  Founding members Scotty Morris and Kurt Sodergren, plus the five other original members continue to keep their sound fresh coming off the 2009 release of their tribute to Cab Calloway.  Produced by Morris and Joshua Levy with Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, the band has honed their musicality to a fine point, effortlessly striking a balance between respect for the authenticity of the swing sound and the original ideas they incorporate into the mix.  The band features Morris (vocals, guitar, banjo), Joshua Levy (piano, arranger), Kurt Sodergren (drums), Dirk Shumaker (acoustic bass, vocals), Glen “The Kid” Marhevka (trumpet), Karl Hunter (soprano, alto, tenor saxophones and clarinet) and Andy Rowley (baritone saxophone, vocals).   Savoy Jazz will release “RATTLE THEM BONES” on September 4th.

Soul Asylum Readies Release Of New Album “DELAYED REACTION” Available On July 17th

Hometown Release Week Performance in Minneapolis at Mall Of America

SANTA MONICA, Calif., July 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ – Soul Asylum is back and newly signed with 429 Records which will release their first album in six years, “DELAYED REACTION.”  This time around, the veteran band is energized with a recalibrated lineup that includes founders Dave Pirner and Dan Murphy alongside ex-Replacements, ex-Guns N’ Roses bassist Tommy Stinson (who replaced original member Karl Mueller who passed away in 2006) and former Prince drummer Michael Bland.  “DELAYED REACTION,” which was produced by the band and overseen by John Fields, bristles with the tightly wound, slightly ragged vibe that characterized the band when they emerged straight out of Minneapolis.  The recording took place in various locations—beginning in Los Angeles and then relocating to New Orleans and Minneapolis and back to LA–each town giving the tracks a unique backdrop of local culture vibe.

KISS Rockers and BOOMER Magazine To Help US Veterans Find Employment

Virginia’s BOOMER magazine partners with rock band KISS to raise awareness and promote US Chamber of Commerce’s “Hiring Our Heroes” program for US Veterans.

Central Virginia’s BOOMER magazine is teaming up with music legends KISS for their August 2012 Summer issue. The upcoming issue will feature exclusive content from the Bristow, VA, and Virginia Beach shows the band has with Motley Crue, and will promote the US Chamber of Commerce’s “Hiring Our Heroes” program – helping US Veterans find employment as they return home from service.

KISS may be known for their huge stage shows, legendary impact on music and the hits “Rock And Roll All Nite,” “Detroit Rock City” and “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” – but they are also lending their talents and support for US Veterans as they enter the workforce after their service has ended.

It was through KISS and their management that BOOMER was educated about initiatives from the US Chamber of Commerce and the growing need for US Veterans to find employment.

KISS bassist Gene Simmons appeared on NBC’s Today Show in May of 2012 to promote the band’s very own Hire a Hero initiative for their Summer 2012 World Tour. The band held a contest and chose a US Veteran to work as a roadie on this Summer’s ‘The Tour’ with Motley Crue. The winner, and long-time KISS fan Paul Jordan, was selected LIVE on air with Matt Lauer, Ann Curry and Natalie Morales.

“We should all step up and give our heroes, our vets, a job,” says Simmons. “It’s the least we can do.”

It is estimated that over 70,000 US Veterans will be unemployed in the Virginia and Tidewater areas by the end of 2012, according to statistics from the US Department of Veterans Affairs. To raise awareness and promote local area Veteran employment, Central Virginia’s BOOMER magazine will be featuring local companies in upcoming issues who participate in Hiring Our Heroes and other employment programs.

In addition to features and awareness programs, BOOMER will also hold their very own contest to hire a US Veteran to meet and interview KISS before their tour kickoff in Bristow, VA in July 2012. The interview will be featured in an upcoming issue of BOOMER magazine and will be filmed for BOOMER Magazine’s YouTube Channel and Facebook.

Ann Wilson and her younger sister, Nancy Wilson, first showed the world that women can rock when their band Heart stormed the charts in the 1970s with hits like “Crazy on You,” “Magic Man,” “Barracuda,” ‘Straight On,” “Even It Up,” “Kick It Out,” and many more.  Not only did the Wilson sisters lead the band, they wrote the songs and played the instruments, making them the first women in rock to do so.  Heart continued topping the charts through the ’80s and into the ’90s with huge hits like “These Dreams,” “Alone,” “Never,” and a string of other hits that showcased the sisters’ enormous talents as both musicians and singers. Along the way, Heart sold more than 35 million records, had 21 top 40 hits, sold out arenas worldwide, and profoundly influenced the sound and direction of American rock music while inspiring women (and guys too!) around the world to rock out in bands of their own.
