SONOMA COUNTY, Calif., April 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — When Lyle Lovett returns to Marin County’s Marin Center on August 13 th he will be backed by his Large Band. Tickets for Lyle Lovett and his Large Band go on-sale Friday at 11:00 A.M.
There are songwriters, there are musicians and there are entertainers. Few people can pull off all three with refinement, humility and charm. Lyle Lovett is one of them. Lyle Lovett has broadened the definition of American music in a career that spans 14 albums. Coupled with his gift for storytelling, the Texas-based musician fuses elements of country, swing, jazz, folk, gospel and blues in a convention-defying manner that breaks down barriers. Lovett has appeared in 13 feature films, and on stage and television. Among his many accolades, besides the four Grammy Awards, he was given the Americana Music Association’s inaugural Trailblazer Award, and was recently named the Texas State Musician.
In August, Lovett will be backed by an all-star cast, starting with his rhythm section, which belongs in some hall of fame. There’s rarely any other outcome when Lovett convenes his Large Band. The 14 players are all virtuosos in their own right, but always serve the greater good of the song and the communal spirit of a live performance. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said “Lyle Lovett & His Large Band deliver perfection.” The Boston Globe said “Lovett and his band stir the congregation.”
Tickets for Lyle Lovett and his Large Band August 13 at 8:00 P.M. at the Marin Center in San Rafael are $49.75, $69.75 and $89.75. Tickets go on-sale this Friday, April 19 at 11:00 A.M. on-line at www.rbpconcerts.com, in-person at the Marin Center Box Office at 10 Avenue of the Flags in San Rafael, California and by phone at 415-473-6800.
