About Rush
With more than 40 million records sold worldwide and countless sold-out tours, Rush – Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart – is not only one of the most inventive and compelling groups in rock history, but remains one of the most popular. The RIAA has certified Rush for the third most consecutive gold/platinum studio albums by a rock band, topped only by the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Rush’s vast catalog includes such classics as 1974′s self-titled debut, 1976′s “2112,” 1981′s “MOVING PICTURES,” 1996′s “TEST FOR ECHO,” and 2002′s “VAPOR TRAILS.” Rush released their 20th studio album, “CLOCKWORK ANGELS,” on June 12 via Anthem/Roadrunner Records. The highly anticipated collection marks their first studio recording since 2007′s “SNAKES & ARROWS,” and debuted at #1 in Canada and #2 on the Billboard 200, matching the highest chart debut of the band’s career. In addition to their commercial success, Rush has also been recognized with a number of Juno Awards and multiple Grammy nominations, including one earlier this year for the acclaimed documentary “Rush: Beyond The Lighted Stage.” Enjoying a recent pop culture renaissance, Rush made a rare television appearance – their first in over 30 years – on Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report” and a memorable cameo in the film “I Love You, Man.” Most recently, Rush has been nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013. A career-chronicling Rolling Stone feature summed up the renowned rock trio’s continuing artistic vitality by observing, “It’s true that Rush doesn’t mean today what it did in ’76 or even ’96. It may mean more.” For more information please visit www.rush.com.

Rush Announces Clockwork Angels Tour
RUSH TO VISIT 33 CITIES THROUGHOUT NORTH AMERICA IN 2012
Tickets on sale in select markets beginning April 27th at LiveNation.com
LOS ANGELES, April 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Alongside the release of the powerful new single “Headlong Flight,” Live Nation announced today that Rush will embark on a North American Tour in support of their upcoming and highly anticipated new album, “CLOCKWORK ANGELS.” This year’s fall tour will visit approximately 33 cities beginning September 7th in Manchester, NH, and finishing December 2nd in Houston, TX, with stops along the way in Pittsburgh, Detroit, Columbus, Bridgeport, Philadelphia, Saskatoon, Seattle, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Tampa, as well as dates in Canada and more (complete tour itinerary follows). Tickets for the Clockwork Angels Tour will go on sale starting April 27th in select markets at Ticketmaster.com and LiveNation.com.
“CLOCKWORK ANGELS,” the band’s 20th studio album, will be released on June 12th.This is the renowned trio’s first new collection of original material in over five years and their first studio release via Anthem/Roadrunner records. With more than 40 million records sold worldwide and countless sold-out tours, Rush – Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart – is not only one of the most inventive and compelling groups in rock history, but remains one of the most relevant.
Singer/bassist Geddy Lee remarked, “‘Headlong Flight’ was one of those songs that was a joy to write and record from beginning to end. Alex [Lifeson] and I had blast jamming in my home studio one day before the 2nd leg of the Time Machine Tour and I did not revisit that jam until a year later. Alex and I assembled the song to be an instrumental and its original title was ‘Take that lampshade off yo head!’ but once we saw the lyrics Neil had written for ‘Headlong Flight,’ I knew that the spirit of the lyrics matched the instrumental perfectly and it was just a matter of making them fit and writing the melodies.”
Drummer and lyricist Neil Peart explained, “In late 2011, my drum teacher Freddie Gruber, towards the end of his long and adventurous 84 years, was reminiscing among friends and former students. Often he would shake his head and say, ‘I had quite a ride. I wish I could do it all again.’ That is not a feeling I have ever shared about the past — I remain glad that I don’t have to do it all again. While working on the lyrics for ‘Headlong Flight,’ the last song written for Clockwork Angels, I tried to summarize my character’s life and adventures. My own ambivalence colored the verses, while Freddie’s words inspired the chorus ‘I wish that I could live it all again.’”
The RIAA has certified Rush for the third most consecutive gold/platinum studio albums by a rock band, topped only by the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Rush’s vast catalog includes such classics as 1974′s self-titled debut, 1976′s “2112,” 1981′s “MOVING PICTURES,” 1996′s “TEST FOR ECHO,” and 2002′s “VAPOR TRAILS.” Rush’s last studio album, 2007′s “SNAKES & ARROWS,” debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200, marking the band’s highest chart debut since 1993, as well as their eleventh top 10 album in the U.S. The album’s first single, “Far Cry,” hit the top 5 at mainstream rock radio, with airplay on over 100 radio stations in the US and the track “Malignant Narcissism” was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Rock Instrumental Performance category.
In addition to their commercial success, Rush has also been recognized with a number of Juno Awards and multiple Grammy nominations, including one for the acclaimed documentary “Rush: Beyond The Lighted Stage.” Enjoying a recent pop culture renaissance, Rush made a rare television appearance – their first in over 30 years – on Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report” and a memorable cameo in the film “I Love You, Man.” A career-chronicling Rolling Stone feature summed up the renowned rock trio’s continuing artistic vitality by observing, “It’s true that Rush doesn’t mean today what it did in ’76 or even ’96. It may mean more.”

Alfred Music Publishing celebrates 90 years of helping the world experience the joy of making music.
Alfred Music Publishing commemorates 90 years of helping the world experience the joy of making music. With nearly 100,000 active titles—totaling millions of educational music resources, methods, supplements, and sheet music collections stocked in music stores around the globe—a world-class author and artist roster, and more than 400 educational events and clinics conducted each year, Alfred continues to serve as the world’s largest educational music publisher.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 23, 2012
Alfred Music Publishing commemorates 90 years of helping the world experience the joy of making music. With nearly 100,000 active titles—totaling millions of educational music resources, methods, supplements, and sheet music collections stocked in music stores around the globe—a world-class author and artist roster, and more than 400 educational events and clinics conducted each year, Alfred continues to serve as the world’s largest educational music publisher.
Alfred Music Publishing’s history began in New York City, founded in 1922 by composer and musician Alfred Piantadosi. The company was then purchased in 1928 by Sam Manus, a violinist who provided mood music for silent films. Manus’ son, Morty, began his professional career in the late ’40s at Alfred—the place where he also met the bookkeeper’s daughter and wife to be, Iris. As Morty took the helm of the company in the ’50s, his focus was on educational music products, resulting in the production of successful instructional series for both recorder and guitar—including the title most noted then, and still a best-seller today—Alfred’s Basic Guitar Method. Morty continued to fuel Alfred’s dominance in educational music publishing by expanding into the school market in the ‘60s and ‘70s, introducing Alfred’s Basic Piano Library in 1982, and releasing the Accent on Achievement band method series in 1987.
Fast-forward 50 years from the first day that Morty took lead of the company, Alfred Music Publishing now extends its reach across the globe with seven offices around the world: Los Angeles headquarters; Miami, U.K., Germany, Singapore, and Australia offices; and the state-of-the-art distribution center in New York. Morty and Iris Manus are still a vital and active part of Alfred Music Publishing. “Music for me has been an extraordinary experience,” comments Morty. “It’s a business and it’s a joy, all at the same time. I met my wife there – it’s been a fascinating career so far!” Iris shares, “Music is our life, and we wish it on everyone because it’s a wonderful way to go through life—from listening to, and making, great music.”
To this day, Alfred is still a family-owned and operated business. In 1997 Steven and Ron Manus became co-owners, leading the charge into the next millennium. Alfred continued to expand under their leadership, with the purchase of Warner Bros. Publications in 2005, acquiring the rights to Warner/Chappell Music, Inc. and the EMI Catalogue Partnership. Through this deal, Alfred gained the print rights of legendary publishers such as M. Witmark & Sons, Remick Music Corp., and T.B. Harms, Inc. Among the EMI holdings are the Robbins and Leo Feist catalogs, plus film music from United Artists, MGM, and 20th Century Fox. Alfred also acquired educational power brands as a result of the deal, including Suzuki, Belwin, and many others. During the mid-to-late 2000s, Alfred also acquired the print rights to A-list artists like Led Zeppelin, Journey, Rush, and Bruce Springsteen, in addition to ABKCO Music, Inc., publisher of The Rolling Stones. Alfred also established distribution deals with BBE Sound, TASCAM, Mighty Bright, Ultimate Support, and many other music gear and equipment manufacturers. Daisy Rock Girl Guitars, the original girl guitar company launched in 2000 by President and Founder Tish Ciravolo, entered into co-ownership with Alfred in 2003. Daisy Rock Girl Guitars’ continues to help girls play guitar and enjoy music—a mission very much in sync with Alfred’s.
Alongside this growth, Alfred’s forward-thinking has led to the release the first-ever customizable instrumental methods Sound Innovations for Concert Band and String Orchestra, as well as new media educational apps such as Music for Little Mozarts and iChord Guitar for Androidtm and Apple® devices.
In 2009 Ron Manus became CEO and sole owner of Alfred. A valued employee since 1988, Ron is propelling the company to new heights and is involved in the company’s daily activities. In his first year as CEO, Ron launched the Alfred Cares initiative, renewing Alfred’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact. In 2011, Ron oversaw the company’s partnership with the world renowned video game publisher Nintendo®, resulting in the release of Super Mario Bros.TM and The Legend of ZeldaTM sheet music series, for the first time in the USA.
From the modest Tin Pan Alley pop song catalog and music for silent films to many of today’s flagship and award-wining educational music publications and e-publications ported for tomorrow’s digital devices, Alfred Music Publishing takes great pride in its legacy and looks onward toward constant innovation in educational music products with 20/20 vision. Ron Manus shares:
“Alfred has been helping people experience the joy of making music for 90 years. For a company filled with avid music lovers who serve musicians of all types with the finest educational materials, that is quite a noble and proud legacy to be a part of. As we celebrate our 90th anniversary, we smile on our past as we look to the future. Alfred continues to create the great educational products people have grown to expect from us, and we also remain on the cutting edge of innovation in music education with Sound Innovations, the world’s first customizable method, eBooks, interactive learning tools, and imaginative multimedia. We wouldn’t have achieved so much in these 90 years without the spirit and hard work from Alfred’s staff, authors, editors, composers, and partners. We are incredibly privileged to work with such talent to help people learn, teach, and play music.”
